Our History & Mission

Scott and Ali Coder’s story began in 2018 when they met while working together at Red Lobster. Both in recovery themselves, they know what it feels like to reach ground zero, start over, and slowly rebuild a life one decision at a time.

In 2020, when COVID hit and Scott was laid off from his factory job, he used that time to earn his CDCA and soon began working directly with individuals in recovery. It was not long before Ali found herself getting involved too, using social media to gather donations and necessities for the people Scott was helping. She quickly realized this was where she was meant to be and went on to earn her CDCA as well.

Having experienced firsthand the people who showed up for them when they needed it most, Scott and Ali became passionate about giving back what had once been given to them. They knew what it was like to need a second chance, and they wanted to spend their lives helping others find theirs.

In 2024, that passion grew into Rise & Recover Sober Living. What began with one housing partner has grown to multiple community partners and more than 60 houses, alongside mission-minded property owners who believe in helping people rebuild their lives.

For Scott and Ali, the greatest measure of success is not the number of houses. It is watching someone arrive on day one and later celebrate their first job in recovery, getting their license back, buying a car, rebuilding relationships, or even purchasing their first home.

They believe sometimes God pulls you out of the pit and sends you right back down so you can help bring someone else out. Recovery is not easy, but it is so worth it, and Scott and Ali consider it a privilege to walk alongside others as they rebuild their lives and discover just how much is still possible.
