Rise & Recover Sober Living

Effective Date: October 9, 2026

Rise & Recover Sober Living is a nonprofit organization providing safe, structured recovery housing. We are committed to respecting the privacy of our residents, staff, community partners, and others who use our mobile application and related services.

Rise & Recover provides recovery housing, not clinical or medical treatment. We partner with independent organizations that provide treatment and peer support services.

This Privacy Policy explains what information our application collects, how we use it, who may access it, and how users can request deletion of their app accounts.

1. Information We Collect

Depending on your role and the features you use, we may collect and maintain:

  • Personal information: Names, email addresses, telephone numbers, dates of birth, emergency contacts, and account information.
  • Housing information: Housing assignments, admission dates, transfers, attendance, housing agreements, and exit records.
  • Recovery-related information: Sobriety dates, recovery goals, plans, assessments, and information voluntarily provided through the application.
  • Financial information: Housing fees, balances, payments, adjustments, and payment history.
  • Personal submissions: Journals, prayer requests, maintenance requests, complaints, incident reports, and other submitted information.
  • Application activity: Account authentication information, preferences, saved resources, and certain activity and security records.

We do not require Social Security numbers or collect full payment-card information directly through the application.

2. How We Use Information

We use information to manage recovery housing, maintain resident records, administer housing fees, respond to requests, support residents, manage authorized staff access, and maintain the security and operation of our services.

We may also use information to fulfill organizational responsibilities, maintain accurate records, and comply with applicable requirements.

3. Who Can Access Information

Access is restricted according to a user's role and authorized responsibilities.

Residents can access their own applicable information. Authorized staff may access information necessary for their assigned responsibilities. Executive Team members have broader organizational access.

Important information about journals: Entries marked "Just Me" are private from Peer Support staff but may be accessed by authorized Rise & Recover Executive Team members.

Prayer requests and other submissions may remain associated with a resident's account even when they are not shared with staff. They should not be considered anonymous.

Community Partners have restricted access to approved housing and referral information and are not authorized to access residents' private journals, financial records, or other confidential resident records through the partner portal.

4. Outside Service Providers

Our application uses third-party services to support its operation, including:

  • Clerk: Account authentication and identity management.
  • Replit and database infrastructure: Application hosting and storage.
  • Zeffy: External housing-payment services and related payment processing, where enabled.
  • Bonfire: External merchandise purchases.
  • External resources and maps: Websites and services that users choose to open.

These providers may process information necessary to deliver their services under their respective privacy practices.

Opening an external website may result in information being collected directly by that website.

5. Information Security

We use authentication, role-based access controls, and other technical and organizational safeguards intended to protect personal information.

Our authentication and infrastructure providers describe encryption and security protections for their services. However, no electronic system can guarantee absolute security.

Personal journals, prayer requests, and recovery records are not end-to-end encrypted and may be accessible to authorized personnel as described in this policy.

6. Record Retention

Rise & Recover's current organizational record retention policy uses a seven-year period beginning with a resident's first admission date as a retention review reference.

Records are not automatically deleted after seven years. Information may be retained longer when necessary for active housing, financial obligations, safety matters, legal requirements, disputes, or other legitimate organizational purposes.

Retention and deletion decisions are subject to applicable requirements and organizational review.

7. Account and Data Deletion

Users may request deletion of their application accounts through the app's account deletion feature or through our public account deletion request process.

Account deletion may include removal of authentication access and eligible app-specific information, such as personal preferences, saved resources, reminders, journals, and prayer requests, subject to documented retention exceptions.

Deleting an app account does not necessarily result in deletion of housing, financial, incident, acknowledgement, or other organizational records that Rise & Recover has a legitimate reason or obligation to retain.

Requests may require identity verification to protect personal information.

For assistance, contact admin@rise-recover.org.

8. Information Sharing

We may share information with authorized service providers when necessary to operate the application, and with outside organizations when authorized or otherwise permitted or required by applicable law.

Access by partner organizations is not automatically granted merely because they partner with Rise & Recover.

We do not use the application to sell residents' personal information to advertisers.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as our application, services, or legal obligations change. Updated versions will be published with a revised effective date.
